Do You Pull Your Weight in Relationships? A Wow Factor

Image
Written by Ariana G. for BlogXilla.com When I think about relationships, I think of the word partnership. The 50/50, I scratch your back, you scratch mine, “if you keep it real with me, I keep it real with you” kind of deal. Now, I’m not referencing the sentimental, walk in the park and kiss me under the stars part of the relationship. This is more of the full-time job, day in and day out, “love won’t pay the bills” part of the relationship. However you want to dissect those lengthy descriptions, my point is that when it comes down to it, love takes work…from both people. Unfortunately as many of us have come to find out in our own unscripted soap-opera tinged love lives, this doesn’t always happen. This, my friends is called not pulling your weight. This issue is not exclusive to one gender. A man or woman can be guilty of not putting in their half of the work. Case in point: the textbook case of the good-for-nothing man and the hardworking woman. While she’s gett...

Is This True? Oldest Evidence Of Split Between Monkeys And Apes Discovered

Two fossil discoveries have revealed new details about the evolutionary divergence of apes and Old World monkeys, such as macaques and baboons, according to a report published in the journal Nature . The two primate fossils are from the late Oligocene epoch, about 25 million years ago, which is considerably older than previously discovered fossils for either group. The study authors conclude that the two groups of primates were already diverging at this time. “The late Oligocene is among the least sampled intervals in primate evolutionary history, and the Rukwa field area provides a first glimpse of the animals that were alive at that time from Africa south of the equator,” said lead author Nancy Stevens, an associate professor of paleontology at Ohio University. The team was able to recover a single tooth and a jaw fragment with three teeth from a site in the Rukwa Rift Basin in southwestern Tanzania. They determined that the single tooth had nine characteristics that ...

A Fact: How Men React To Crying

Image
This post was prompted by a recent episode of The Only Way Is Essex. One of the characters Lydia was crying uncontrollably in front of her boyfriend James last week as she felt unfairly treated/ neglected. It made me wonder what goes through men’s minds when women cry. The cause of your tears (could be a form of manipulation, hormones, anger, sincere emotion or even memories) will determine the kind of response you receive I’ve found that when I’ve broken down in front of the opposite sex some don’t know what to do. My ex partner would just look at me whilst I sobbed non stop. My immediate thought was, aren’t you going to console me? Not even a hug or a there, there which can be a slightly patronizing but would have been better than nothing. At the time I underestimated how difficult it must have been for him to see me in such a state. I couldn’t quite grasp that some men are paralysed with facing this kind of emotion. Some men simply don’t know what to do...

5 Mistakes We Make With Our Business Cards.

Image
They bring me business and success everyday. That’s why they are ALWAYS in my left pocket. But most people either don’t have th em (shame on you) or if they do — have terrible ones. Here are some mistakes people make with business cards: 1. You forget them. This is the biggest mistake — your card is your brochure, your image, your information in a prospective client’s hands — and you now blew it because you forgot your cards. In addition, you now feel uncomfortable because you might or might not get theirs, which is gold in any business or position. Always carry them with you . . . Everywhere. Keep them in your car, your desk, your briefcase. 2. They look awful. When I hand out my card, I usually get the exclamation, “What a great card!” or “Who did this for you, it’s incredible!”. Does this happen to you? If not, you need to have your cards made by professionals. If you aren’t creative, you need to hire a creative ASAP to design a logo and card for you. ...

SS Repost...Do Bigger Boobs increase Cancer risk? *Details*

Image
Could having a larger than average bust make you more likely to develop breast cancer? According to a recent scientific study, that may be the case. The study, which consisted of 16,000 women, found genetic mutations associated with breast size were also linked to breast cancer, according to Australian newspaper, The Herald Sun . Some of the mutations involve regulating the female sex hormone oestrogen, which can trigger the growth of breasts and the growth of tumors. There have been other studies that have linked breast density to an increased risk of cancer, but there has not been much evidence linking breast size before. This study is the first substantial link. Much more research is needed before this evidence can be considered concrete, said Dr. Nicholas Eriksson of California-based genetics firm 23andMe. “Our results identify genetic variants that have an effect on both breast cancer and natural variation in breast size...

GIDEON's post on How to Outrun Quick and Fast Thinkers *Post! not my tips*

Do you ever run into someone where they seem to be thinking and acting 100 miles per hour faster than you? First Question: Why are they in that formation? Here’s why: #1. They are truly gifted. There are people out there who are really smart. They have the ability to assess the situation, determine their choices, and choose the best direction. They are a wonder to work with and for — because they usually cut through the BS and take action. My estimate: 10% of the population. #2. They are in the know. Bottom line — they know more than you. They have more information, they know how people work, they know who can do what, and they’ve probably done this before while it’s totally new to you. Or they are privy to information not disclosed to you. You think they are better than you — but they’re just a few steps ahead (and running quite fast to stay there). My estimate: 50% of the population. #3. They are fearless. They are supremely confident in their decision making ...

Are women better investors than men?

Image
The battle of the sexes has been going on for centuries, and many believe it is far from over. When it comes to the world of finance, for the most part, it is still dominated by men. Approximately 95% of hedge fund managers are men, however, research over the past decade indicates women are better investors than men. If you are wondering how this could be, the answer is simple: it all comes down to the perception of risk. When faced with risky situations, women will tend to feel fear, while men will tend to feel anger. These different emotions lead to different reactions, leading to different styles of investing. Whether you are talking about a professional share portfolio, a home loan, a hedge fund or even a few family-owned shares, most investments will involve some kind of risk. And the way that we deal with this risk can determine how much money we make from them. If you sell too early or buy too late, it can mean the difference between a huge pay-off and a...
